About this project

Ponds A19 and A20 are detention ponds from the Vista Ridge master drainage plan. They are meant to drain within 72 hours, but held water much longer. The Town is rebuilding them with new outlet structures, trickle channels, forebays and maintenance access paths.

Timeline (newest first)

  • Oct 1, 2026: Target completion (as of the Town's June update).
  • Jun 2026: Dredging at Pond A19 paused about five weeks for nesting red-winged blackbirds; Pond A20 work continued.
  • Mar 24, 2026: First amendment (+$635,720) after dewatering Pond A20 revealed far more muck than estimated. The contract now totals about $2.0 million.
  • Jan 13, 2026: Construction contract with RCD Construction, $1,373,950.26, plus a rollover of 2025 funds. JUB Engineers oversees construction and neighbor communication (golf course, HOA and Metro District).
  • Aug 2022: RESPEC hired to design the pond fixes.
  • Oct 26, 2021: Town Council approved an agreement with the Vista Ridge Metropolitan District ending a long dispute over ponds and sidewalks: the Town maintains the drainage and detention ponds, sidewalk responsibilities are clarified, and the District pays $10,000 a year into a Town fund for pond maintenance.
