The Vista Ridge Metropolitan District is a quasi-municipal corporation and political subdivision of the State of Colorado, organized on January 8, 2001 under the Colorado Special District Act. Its service area is in Weld County and entirely within the Town of Erie. It is governed by an elected five-member Board of Directors, has no employees and contracts its management to Public Alliance.
Most public improvements the District financed or built, including the streets, were transferred to the Town of Erie. The District still owns and maintains the non-potable (raw water) irrigation system, with costs shared with the Colorado National Golf Club, plus certain perimeter fencing and landscaping, and it maintains certain common-area landscaping, trails and sidewalks. It is funded mainly by property taxes (its mill levy) on Vista Ridge properties.
